Much as I love the color, Lavender Dream is disappointing in rebloom and disease resistance here in SE Virginia. I chose it as the focal point outside my kitchen window so I admit high expectations. It is being outperformed by the Fairy, Lyda Rose, Darlow's Enigma and Blush Noisette which are in a circular bed around it. Sadly I recommended it to the zoo as a shade rose and there it is mostly leafless and bloom-less. I expect more vigor and toughness from shrub roses, and this one just did not work out where I put it.

'Yesterday' cannot be diploid considering it has 'Joanna Hill' in its ancestry. The info must be incorrect.

This is not quite right. Phyllis Bide is a diploid and Shepherd's Delight is most likely a tetraploid so the unnamed seedling is probably a triploid. Triploids will often make both haploid and diploid pollen/ovules so when put with Ballerina, which is diploid (and so probably makes haploid pollen), it could make more diploids. I have often wondered why Lavender Dream is a triploid when logic says it should be diploid. It does seem to have reduced fertility that is common to some triploids though.

In NC, I've found this rose to be very shade tolerant! It doesn't get the huge bloom amounts pictured, but it gets a respectable amount of bloom with very little sun. I use it for an easy rose for shade, if I just have to have a rose there :)
