The Hybrid Perpetual Rose
Monsieur Trouillard, a florist, at Angers, has been very successful in raising seedlings from the Géant [des Batailles]... Bacchus is another of M. Trouillard's seedlings: this has the vivid colour of the race; but like our old friend Standard of Marengo, it has not enough petals, and unless under very high cultivation, its flowers are too small.
