Introduced in Australia by Tasmania Botanical Gardens in 1862 as 'Ardoisé de Lyon'.

Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Violet - purple, crimson center, red highlights.  Strong, old rose fragrance.  130 petals.  Average diameter 4".  Large, very full (41+ petals), button-eye, old-fashioned, quartered bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:

Height: 39" to 5' (100 to 150cm).  Width: 3' (90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b and warmer.  Disease susceptibility: susceptible to Mildew.
