Could it be that there are different roses = ‘Président Dutailly’, Gallica or Hybrid Perpetual or Damask Perpetual, bred by Dubreuil in 1888, deep pink with purplish shade + ‘Charlemagne, Gallica, bred by Dorisy in 1838. Lens and Everyrose sites mentioned ‘Charlemagne’ as a synonym of ‘Président Dutailly’.

A very interesting question! There is no evidence that 'Charlemagne' was ever a synonym of 'Président Dutailly'. There was also never a Gallica or HP named 'Charlemagne' by Dorisy, who bred Bourbon roses. The error has seemed to creeped into literature in the 1880s, when the HP by Oger got confused with the earlier Bourbon by Dorisy. As the latter was blush to white, passing to pink, we have to assume that it is extinct and all 'Charlemagne' sold as HPs are from Oger (if at all!)
Also, the photos of 'Président Dutailly' do not at all look like crimson with carmine highlights in the centre and velvety violet-red outer petals. Maybe all incorrect? The reference in the JdR of 1888 is a good base for comparison.
