In Den Helder, the Netherlands a museum is named after Dorus Rijkers. It is the the Nationaal Reddingmuseum Dorus Rijkers. The museum tells the history of rescue at sea. See the web site of the museum www.reddingmuseum.nl for further information.

This rose is named after the famous Netherlands row-lifeboat-coxswain Dorus Rijkers (1847-1928) from Den Helder. Information about Dorus Rijkers can be found on www.dorusrijkers.nl. For the moment only in Dutch. If there is sufficient demand I will translate certain pages.
Recently I made photo's of this rose.
