Origin:
Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1898).
Introduced in Germany by Peter Lambert in 1909 as 'Asta von Parpart'.
Class:
Hybrid Canina, Hybrid Multiflora, Rambler.  
Bloom:
Carmine-red, purple shading.  Mild to strong, sweet fragrance.  Medium, full (26-40 petals), cluster-flowered, in small clusters, in large clusters, ruffled bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Climbing, upright.  Dark green, dense foliage.  

Height: 8'2" to 9'10" (250 to 300cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 2b through 8b.  Can be used for cut flower, garden, hedge or pillar.  Very hardy.  very vigorous.
