From Wills cigarette cards, Roses – a series of 40 cards. Issued in 1936. No 11. EMMA WRIGHT (Hybrid Tea) Introduced 1917 Pure orange, shaded at edge of petals. The blooms are rather small and thin, but they retain their colour over a long period. In the bud they are delightful. It is a most charming Rose for decorative purposes and, if cut very young, the blooms will open in water, retaining their colour for several days. The habit of growth is moderate, but that defect may be overcome by planting closely, say fifteen inches apart. Fragrant. The foliage is a bright green, which makes a lovely contrast. It requires moderate pruning to four eyes the last week in March. Free of disease, it is one of the most charming bedding varieties we have. Awarded a Gold Medal of the National Rose Society.

From 1926 series of Wills's cigarette cards (No 10) EMMA WRIGHT. (Hybrid Tea.) A charming and attractive bedding rose of good habit, and free flowering character. The blooms are produced upon erect stems, are semi-double, and very beautiful in the bud stage, especially for decorative purposes. Should be moderately pruned, cutting away all dead and unripe wood, leaving from four to six "eyes " on the leading shoots of the previous year's growth. Introduced in 1917.
