Pocock's Roses  introduced a selection of roses bred by Georges Delbard  of Delbard Nurseries in France. At present they are the exclusive UK growers of these novel roses. There are four groupings of rose varieties, one of them being 'The Painter Roses' (Roses des Peintres). Described by  Delbard as a homage to the Impressionists 'the myraid colours in the Roses des Peintres vary from one bloom  to the next, and from the tightly furled bud to the open flower'. 'Grimaldi' (shown left) is just one of the varieties, with irridescent petals the blooms appear in a multitude of colours in unpredictable combinations. A strong bush  growing up to a metre in height, it harmonises well with other roses. Delbard have also evolved a  'unique' way of describing rose fragrance, with a colourful segmented  pyramid  shape. Photo: Delbard Nurseries.
