[From Les Amis des Roses, 4. trimester 1953, p. 110:] A Uetersen, chez M. TANTAU, nous pouvons admirer 800.000 rosiers d'une réussite parfaite et d'une très belle végétation. Dans un grand carré de polyantha, se trouve, entre autres, la variété nouvelle Schweizer Gruss, synonyme Red Favorite, représentée par 40.000 sujets, et il y en a 35.000 dans un autre endroit. [From The Makers of Heavenly Roses, by Jack Harkness, p. 120:] The business of Tantau is almost entirely wholesale. They grow, or employ others to grow, about four million roses a year. Their catalogue is a lavish production, designed to sell a few thousand roses per wholesale customer, with page after page of glossy paper and ink, every variety looking so perfect... The nursery was established 1906. In 1985 it was taken over by an employee, Hans-Jürgen Evers. Since 2000, his son Christian Evers joined the management.
