Where can I find the blanket rose Happy Chappy in the Flint, Lansing area. It's new for 2007 but other than Jackson Perkins, I can't seem to find it anywhere.

We have a few lavender colored roses, but in general the lavender-colored roses have poor winter hardiness and can be somewhat disease prone. If you're new to rose gardening, I'd recommend that you try the many pink and red roses that thrive in Michigan.

I am just so happy with Great Lakes Roses. I have been there 3 times this year and I live 3 hours away. I am just begining my journey in growing roses here in Muskegon and at my parents house in Allegan county MI. So far this year I am pleased with the initial results. Western Michigan Teen Challenge now has 14 own root roses planted behind the buildings that the men there can enjoy for years to come. WMTC is a live in year long ministry for men and women who have had life controlling problems and have turned to Christ for the solution. I myself am a graduate (Aug 2000) and now a volunteer staff member. I have been free from my addiction to drugs (crack and pot) for over 4 and one half years. I thank God for His deliverance. I think growing roses is good for the students and I know it is good for me.

Hi, I see your post is fairly old, but incase you come this way to view it, I would like to say I am so happy you found Christ and hope that your addictions are still far away from you. I love to garden. The old addage that you are never closer to God than while in a garden is a great way to look at what healing can occur while you are working on beautiful plants and gardening. Roses are so beautiful. I have a fondness for the fragrance of the rose. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Blessings on you, Shar

We picked out our first rose in 1999 . Each time we have another grandchild, they get thier very own rose. We always choose by name and color to suite a baby boy or girl. Of course, being for the grandchildren we HAD to get hardy roses that would not fade or die in a short time. Thank heaven for GreatLakes roses! We have 7 now and of different varieties, all beautiful
