I have two plants of Louise, one a second year maiden on multiflora from Wisconsin Roses and the other own-root from Roses Unlimited - both in their second year now in my zone 5b garden. Louise has been slow to start coming out of winter and seems to be more of a Fall rose (as opposed to a Spring rose). But both are growing gangbusters right now and that bloom is to die for! Check out the photo I posted. This is an excellent rose whether for garden or exhibition.
Louise Este survived its 1st zone 5a winter (heavily mulched with leaves). The blooms have many petals, and lasts for 1 week in vase (if cut in bud), and 2 weeks on the bush. It has a crisp & clean floral medium-scent. Blooms didn't fry in the heat at 92 F. Scent is more noticeable in hot temp, but gone in cooler temp.
