Lemoine dit ce qui suit : "Les fleurs de cet hybride sont grandes comme celles du C. lanuginosa type; leur forme est la même, mais leur couleur est d'un blanc neige pur; les étamines sont d'un blanc soufré. Issu d'un croisement du C. lanuginosa et du C. patens, à fleur blanche, il a conservé mi-partie des caractères des parents tout en acquérant une force de végétation bien plus grande ainsi qu'une rusticité à toute épreuve."
