Slightly differentiated. Entirely transformed. Color (total effect) milk white; guards clear ; collar cream white ; center flecked with green. Petals of all sizes mixed throughout bloom. Fragrance pleasant X. Blooming time early. Small size. Description of plant — Habit of plant erect, medium height, medium compact. Growth strong and healthy. Stem medium long, strong, reddish green. Blooming habit free. Buds borne in clusters. Foliage well furnished, medium green, medium size ; veins reddish green. Commercial value — For cut bloom poor; landscape value medium. Variety as a whole medium.

These form the major part of the collection and occupy by far the larger portion of the ground; and although at the time of our visit the display of bloom was yet in its infancy, many beds having yet to open, the following varieties were exceptionally noteworthy. Lady Dartmouth produces large pure white flowers which...like most of the other members of this class of plants is deliciously rose scented.

Magazine (26 May 1894) Page(s) 507. Washington. Chinese Pæonias. J. L. Loosé exhibited a large collection of these popular flowers at the meeting. This gentleman has made a specialty of herbaceous pæonias; he has imported all of the recently introduced French productions for several years. They succeed magnificently on his farm, the soil just suiting them. Some of the best blooms shown were Reine Hortense, dark rose; Palene, white; Madame Henri, light pink; Lady Dartmouth, large white; Auguste Miellez, faint pink and white; Whitleyi, pure white; Gloire de Donai, crimson; Maria Kelway, light pink.

Fleur grande, pétales de la circonférence larges, carné jaunâtre, ceux du centre plus étroits, jaune canari, quelques larges pétales au milieu blanc jaunâtre bordé de carmin.
Translation: the large bloom has broad, yellowish blush guard petals, the centre petals are narrower and canary yellow with a few broad petals in the center a yellowish white edged carmine.
