'Voluceau' clematis Reviews & Comments

I was sent this clematis by mistake, but what a lucky accident! It is my first and last clematis to bloom each summer. Beautiful reddish purple flowers and plenty of them. I have it planted against a west-facing wall, in small planter (basically a 3 ft hole in the driveway), a dry but sheltered spot. It shares this area with a climbing rose and some small plants, so they fight for the scant water. In these conditions, the clematis has grown slowly, so I have hardly pruned it despite being Group 3, yet it puts on a beautiful display all summer.
