'Souvenir d'Alphonse Lavallée', purchased from Freedom Gardens, original stock imported from Acton Beauchamp. There really is no mistaking this rose with 'Souvenir du Dr Jamain'! Photo taken 24 May 2025.

The color is really, really hard to capture on camera - but this is pretty close. Her petals crisp easy - even with the lack of sun and heat we've had. It's been an unusually cold, wet spring so her color is nice and dark right now. Exceptionally healthy. We've had 2 and a half weeks of on and off rain, cold nights, and mostly cloudy weather, but she's had no pm or blackspot. Zone 7a, Pennsylvania, 2 years old

A comparison of 'Souvenir du Dr Jamain' (the front blooms) and 'Souvenir d'Alphonse Lavallée' (top left bloom). The former is redder, with fewer petals; it's also almost completely thornless. Photo taken 24 May 2025.

This rose holds up really well to rain and doesn't have the quick shattering you'd expect from a DA rose. Much larger than the 4 feet size DA has listed on their website. Zone 7a, Pennsylvania, 2 years old
