The Best Rose Garden In Australia ,in the shape of a Tudor Rose ,was opened in 1986 . It features Hybrid Teas & Floribunda Bush & Standard Roses ,Tripods & Weeping Standards and Arches surrounded by Festoons of Ramblers & Climbers . In 2003 it was awarded the International; Garden of Excellence by the World Federation of Rose Societies in 2003, the first outside of Europe to be so granted.
A 400 m Heritage Border with 250 types of old & Species roses separate the garden from the Formal Gardens of the Mansion. Planting began in 1997 & completed in 2000
267 David Austin Roses (58 Cultivars) are displayed in the "Fragrant Bud" opened 2001
Australian Bred Roses from all States of Australia make up the Federation Leaf opened 2001
The Victoria State Rose Garden Supporters are responsible for the maintenance of the Garden . Each Wednesday and Saturday you will find Approx 50 Volunteers working in the Garden, subject to weather.
