June 2022. Six year old Dr. Huey grafted from David Austin Roses USA. Acquired from them the last year he was offered. Beautiful, perfectly shaped blooms usually in shades of blackish crimson to velvety royal purple. Scent can be elusive at times, but when present is strong, warm, true rose without the fruity tones and sweetness I'd expect. It smells like Don Juan to me. Doesn't smell much like my Autumn Damask yet still a true rose fragrance. Multiflora grafted plant of Tradescant seems to grow better and bloom more here. I have both and am comparing. Will black spot readily. Surprisingly not much mildew- Fisherman's Friend is far worse for that. Not particularly hardy. Tends to die back to snow line/crown. Z5b/Sunset 41; South Central Michigan
