Bred by Henry Bennett (United Kingdom, before 1890).
Introduced in Australia by George Brunning - St. Kilda Nurseries in 1897 as 'Captain Hayward'.

Bloom:
Crimson.  Moderate fragrance.  25 to 30 petals.  Very large, semi-double to double, cupped, high-centered bloom form.  Prolific, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  
Habit:
Tall, upright.  

Height: 5' to 7' (150 to 215cm).  Width: 4' (120cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 4b and warmer.  Does not do well in warmer climates.  plant in partial shade for best color.  Feed this rose well.
