Breeder's notes:
Our friend Marriam Ahmad ( Face Book name Marriam A. Ghazali) of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, has been a frequent participant of our Indian rose conventions for many years. Her passion for roses, just like us, endeared her to us and we sympathized with her enduring efforts to popularize heritage roses, start a rose society and help other rosarians in her country. She brought us a plant of Alexandrine many years ago and Viru tried hybridizing with it. Finally this seedling which had a rich mix of well known roses in its parentage flourished and grew well. Viru was keeping an eye on it, telling me,’if it proves to be a good plant with good blooms we must name it for Marriam’. It flowered a few times when he was still there but he was waiting for the plant to mature. This year it has flowered more profusely, and the plant has established itself. So I am happy ( as Viru would have been too) to name this for this good rose friend.
