Origin:

Bred by Dr. Walter Van Fleet (United States, before 1918).
Introduced in United States by American Rose Society in 1926 as 'Breeze Hill'.
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in 1929 as 'Breeze Hill'.

Class:

Hybrid Wichurana, Large-Flowered Climber.

Bloom:

Salmon-pink, orange shading, buff shading, ages to cream . Mild, apple fragrance. 50 to 60 petals. Average diameter 3". Medium, full (26-40 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, cupped bloom form. Occasional repeat later in the season.

Habit:

Armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, climbing, upright. Medium, leathery foliage.

Height: 12' to 19'8" (365 to 600cm). Width: 12' (365cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Can be grown as a shrub. shade tolerant. Disease susceptibility: very disease resistant, susceptible to blackspot . Prune after flowering is finished.

Rosa luciae Franch. & Rochebr. × Beauté de Lyon (pernetiana, Pernet-Ducher 1907)

Notes:

'Breeze Hill' was named after the home of the eminent rosarian Dr. J. Horace McFarland in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
