'Absolutely Stunning!' rose Description
HelpMeFind's future is in your hands - Please do not take this unique resource for granted.

Your support of HelpMeFind is urgently needed. HelpMeFind, like all websites, needs funding to survive. We have set a premium-membership yearly subscription amount as low as possible to make user-community funding viable.

We are grateful to the many members who have signed up so far, but the number of premium-membership members remains too small for us to sustain the current support and development level. If you value HelpMeFind and want to see it continue we need your support too.

Yearly membership is only $2.00 per month and adds a host of additional features, and numerous planned enhancements, to take full advantage of the power and convenience of HelpMeFind. Click here to start your premium membership..

We of course also welcome donations of any amount. Click here to make a donation. Donations of $24 or more receive a thank-you gift of a 1-year premium membership.

As far as we have come, we feel HelpMeFind is still in its infancy. With your support we have so much more to accomplish.

Origin:
Bred by André Carl (United States, 2013).
Class:
Floribunda.
Bloom:
Dark purple, white center. Buds black-purple.  Strong, clove, damask, old rose fragrance.  20 to 30 petals.  Average diameter 2.5".  Medium, double (17-25 petals), in small clusters, flat to cupped, old-fashioned, rounded bloom form.  Prolific, continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season.  Medium, leafy sepals, ovoid buds.
Habit:
Bushy, compact, few or no prickles/thorns, well-branched.  Medium, semi-glossy, dark green foliage.  3 to 5 leaflets.

Height: 20" to 30" (50 to 75cm).  Width: 20" to 2' (50 to 60cm).
Growing:
Can be used for beds and borders, container rose, cut flower or garden.  Benefits from winter protection in colder climates.  drought resistant.  flowers drop off cleanly.  rain tolerant.  shade tolerant.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.  Can be grown in the ground or in a container (container requires winter protection).
Breeder's notes:
The pollen parent is unknown on this one because it is derived from an open pollinated hip. Having said that, the pollen parent is most likely Ebb Tide itself. This variety has so far not grown as large as large as its parents and the blooms are smaller and born more solitary or in cluster up to 3 blooms. What makes this an improvement, in my opinion, is that the color is a much darker purple and more concentrated - no pinking like Ebb Tide. I also perceive the fragrance to be much more pronounced - reminiscent of the stereotypical rose from 100+ years ago.
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
