'Wilbur' rose Description

Bloom:
Rose-red, white stripes, yellow stamens. Double (17-25 petals), cupped-to-flat bloom form.
Growing:
USDA zone 3b and warmer. Hardy.
Breeder's notes:
O.P. George Will, very likely by Alika. bush gallica type, not over 4 feet tall, no hardier than Alika. Stems fine, with a few small, hooked prickles, nice, fairly glossy leaves. Leaflet 7 - 9. Flowers more double than Alika, of better form, and a deeper, brighter red, 2 3/4". No seed. Blooms once. Overshadowed by Marshall roses. "Bush Gallica type not over 4 ft. tall. No hardier than ‘Alika.’ Stems fine with a few small, hooked prickles. Nice fairly glossy leaves. Flowers more double than ‘Alika,’ but still only semi-double, of better form and a deeper brighter pink to red with many small fringed petals. No seed. Blooms once." [WS notes]
