Origin:
Discovered by Walter Schowalter (Canada, circa 1960).
Class:
Shrub.  
Bloom:
Bright pink.  Small, single (4-8 petals) bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Small foliage.  5 to 7 leaflets.  

Height: 1' to 35" (30 to 90cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 2b and warmer.  Very hardy.  
Breeder's notes:
Found by Walter Schowalter on the Red Dear River flats north of Rumsey [Alberta Canada] bridge on G. Raskin property. In the wild these were dwarf, compact plants, not over 30cm tall, with tiny leaves (4 cm) leaflets 1.1 cm x .6 cm, buds 1.3 cm, opening to 2.5 cm, bright red, dainty. Leaflets obovate, 5 - 7. Under cultivation this dainty dwarf grrew to 90 cm, with leaves and flowers typical in size and appearance of R. woodsii. What is more, blossoms were no longer red, but bright pink.
