Origin:

Bred by Alain Meilland (1940-....) (France, 1997).
Introduced in France by Meilland Richardier in 2007 as 'Nature Meillandécor'.
Introduced in United States by CP-Meilland Inc/Star Roses (California) in 2008 as 'Red Drift'.

Bloom:

Pink to red. None to mild fragrance. 13 to 17 petals. Average diameter 1.75". Small to medium, semi-double (9-16 petals), in large clusters, cupped bloom form. Continuous (perpetual) bloom throughout the season. Medium, ovoid buds.

Habit:

Short, bushy, compact, few or no prickles/thorns. Small, semi-glossy, medium green, dense foliage. 3 to 7 leaflets.

Height: 1' to 16" (30 to 40cm). Width: 16" to 18" (40 to 45cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 5b through 10b. Can be used for garden, ground cover, landscape or shrub. Heat tolerant.

'Meigalpio' originated from hybridization work conducted by the breeder at Le Luc en Provence, France in June 1997. The cross was conducted between the female unnamed proprietary seedling ('The Fairy' x 'Kormax') and the male unnamed proprietary seedling (an unnamed proprietary seedling x 'Morpapplay').
