Bred by Walter Schowalter (Canada, circa 1960). Bred by Percy H. Wright (Canada, before 1960).

Class:

Bloom:

Light pink to white. Occasional repeat later in the season.

Habit:

Height: 6' to 7' (185 to 215cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 3a and warmer. Very hardy. vigorous. can be trained as a climber.

Breeder's notes:

Ross Rambler seedling. Bush 6 - 7 ft tall. Primocane brown, very thorny. flowering shoots thorny. Blossoms light pink, nicely shaped before wide open, curly petals. Not fully double, 3" diameter. Suckers freely, all over the garden. Foliage fine. Leaflets 7 - 9. Late flowers spoiled by rain. Out of bloom mid July.

Notes:

Percy Wright gave W Schowalter 46 seedlings; this is a selection from these. This is Ross Rambler #1. It is a vigorous shrub with small foliage growing to 2m tall & suckers freely. Semi-double, light pink, 7.5 cm. diameter flowers.

According to Mr. Wright, the staminate parent may have been 'Harison's Hardy'.

Paul Olsen received permission from Walter Schowalter to name this one. It appears under the name 'Alberta Bouquet' at the Devonian Botanic Garden (see correspondence of PO to Margit Schowalter) [Pittao]

However, since the rose is not registered as 'Alberta Bouquet' the RR1 name should be primary. [Pittao]
