Bred by Jacques-Julien Margottin père (1817-1892) (France, 1852).
Introduced in Australia by George J. Smith, Royal Exotic Nursery in 1862 as 'Baron Heckeren de Wassenaer'.
Class:
Hybrid Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Pink, violet shading.  None to mild fragrance.  Average diameter 4.75".  Very large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, rounded bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Long, rounded buds.  
Habit:
Few or no prickles/thorns.  Light green foliage.  3 to 5 leaflets.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).
