According to Jill Perry, Curator of the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden, Lorrie Freeman is a dwarf sport of Dortmund, about knee-high with smaller but similar flowers. It was discovered by Tom Liggett, and named for Lorrie Freeman, one of the people who started the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden.
