Bloom:
Orange-red. None / no fragrance. 40 to 50 petals. Average diameter 1.5". Small to medium, very full (41+ petals), flat, rosette bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
Habit:
Rounded, spreading. Dark green foliage. 3 to 7 leaflets.
Height: 8" to 1' (20 to 30cm). Width: 6" to 8" (15 to 20cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer. Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.

The new cultivar originated from a cross made by the inventor in 1992 of two unnamed proprietary seedlings... Flowering season: Year-round under greenhouse conditions, optimal flowering from spring through autumn under garden conditions... Flower diameter: About 4 cm... Flower longevity on plant: About 25 days... Fragrance: Absent... 40 to 50 petals per flower... Flower color does not fade... Plants appear to be relatively tolerant to Powdery Mildew... Seed production is rarely observed...
Notes:
The initial cross for Optima Orange (RUImats) was made in 1992 as part of a planned breeding program to develop pot rose varieties. This rose has very large, dark orange/red flowers which do not fade. Cuttings take 8 to 10 days to root if soil temperatures are maintained at 20 degrees C. It takes from twelve to fourteen weeks to produce a finished plant. This rose flowers year-round under greenhouse conditions. Flowers last about 25 days on the plant.
