Bred by Dubourg (France, circa 1826).
Class:
Gallica / Provins, Hybrid Gallica.
Bloom:
Light pink. Large, very double bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Different opinions on Breeder.- see References. Mary Queen of Scots (Mary Stuart), daughter and only child of James V of Scotland by his second wife, a French woman called Mary of Guise. While James lay on his deathbed at Falkland, Mary was born at Linlithge Palace on 8 Dec 1542. Six days later she became the Queen of Scotland. She was beheaded at Fotheringhay Castle on 8 February 1587. Buried at Peterborough, in 1612 her body was moved to Henry VII's chapel at Westminster, where it still lies.
