Origin:
Bred by Christoph Weigand (Germany, 1904).
Introduced in Australia by Hazlewood Bros. Pty. Ltd. in before 1911 as 'Crimson Rambler Non Plus Ultra'.
Class:
Rambler.  
Bloom:
Crimson.  None to mild fragrance.  Small to medium, semi-double (9-16 petals), cluster-flowered, in large clusters bloom form.  Once-blooming spring or summer.  
Habit:
Tall, climbing, compact.  

Height: up to 9'10" (up to 300cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  Can be used for garden, landscape or pillar.  Very vigorous.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
According to the Rosenlexikon of Jäger, Non plus ultra and Weigand's Crimson Rambler are similar, but different cultivars of Weigand.
