Introduced in China by Zhaolou Peony Garden in 1969 as 'Hua Hu Die 花蝴蝶'.
Class:
Hybrid suffruticosa, Tree peony.  
Bloom:
Deep pink, purple flares.  Mild fragrance.  Average diameter 7".  Medium, semi-double, rose bloom form.  Midseason.  
Habit:

Height: 5' to 7' (150 to 215cm).  Width: 3' (90cm).
Growing:
USDA zone 2a and warmer.

Notes:
Brothers Herbs & Peonies says that of all the new selections from China, this is perhaps the most intriguing they have observed. Starting at the base with a deep dark purple flair, and radiating out in shades of pale lavender to peach fading to a lovely pale pink and cream. It's descended from P. rockii.
