Located in the Chinese tree peony bed (front left corner) of the W.E. Upjohn Peony Garden, Nichols Arboretum, Ann Arbor. Photographed June 2, 2018. This is about as pale as I've seen blooms get on this specimen of Dou Lu.

Chinese tree peony bed, W. E. Upjohn Peony Garden. Taken May 25, 2019. There are three specimens of Lan Tian Yu in a group in the left front corner of the bed. They produce blooms of varying flower form, from nearly single to fully double. This is an example of a bloom that is somewhere between single and semi-double. It is hard to believe the same plants produce such different blooms, one year to the next.
