New Dawn can be a very large climber even in your zone and the roots are invasive. Compassion is the right size and has a wonderful fragrance but the flowers don't last long and in the PNW is very prone to black spot. Sorry to be a carrier of such negative news. Have a look at these few and see if any appeal to you. All will do well for you without any problems and all (in my garden) are strong scented.
