HelpMeFind's future is in your hands - Please do not take this unique resource for granted.

Your support of HelpMeFind is urgently needed. HelpMeFind, like all websites, needs funding to survive. We have set a premium-membership yearly subscription amount as low as possible to make user-community funding viable.

We are grateful to the many members who have signed up so far, but the number of premium-membership members remains too small for us to sustain the current support and development level. If you value HelpMeFind and want to see it continue we need your support too.

Yearly membership is only $2.00 per month and adds a host of additional features, and numerous planned enhancements, to take full advantage of the power and convenience of HelpMeFind. Click here to start your premium membership..

We of course also welcome donations of any amount. Click here to make a donation. Donations of $24 or more receive a thank-you gift of a 1-year premium membership.

As far as we have come, we feel HelpMeFind is still in its infancy. With your support we have so much more to accomplish.

William James Ward ("Jim") Sanday (ca. 1897 - August 3, 1980 Almondsbury)
Succeeded by his son, John Ward Sanday (ca. 1924 - October 4, 2008 Almondsbury)

[From The Rose Annual, 1973, p. 91:] Nigel Raban. The Men Behind the New Roses. W. J. W. Sanday, D.H.M.

[From "The Garden Book of Europe", by D. G. Hessayon, 1973, p. 86:] Many breeders began their work as children in families already famous in the rose industry . Jim Sanday did not begin until his retirement at 64 from the Caledonian Insurance Company ! His first success was Gavotte ( 1962 ) .

[From The Rose Annual, 1981, p. 179:] William James Ward Sanday , DHM. Jim Sanday died at his home in Almondsbury on the 3rd August 1980 , at the age of 83 . He served in France and India in the war of 1914 . We first met many years ago at a meeting of National Rose Society ...

[From Playing at Creation, American Rose Annual 1977, by Sean McCann, p. 97:] To my knowledge there is only one professional rose grower who has set out to breed roses for the show bench. This is Jim Sandy of Bristol, England. And the reason for his interest is simple enough: before he became a professional nurseryman Jim Sandy was one of Britain's top exhibitors, and he still loves the big 'uns.

[From Modern Roses 10, 1993, p. 731:] Sanday, John (Roses) Ltd., Bristol, England.
