Richard Huber jun. (January 27, 1927 - October 10, 2013), joined the family nursery in 1947 and introduced roses from 1948.
[From Rosa Helvetica, 1986, p. 42:] ...breeds roses since a number of years. A larger number of own cultivars is in commerce.
[From Aargauer Zeitung, July 8, 2024:] Interview with Dyana Huber: [Richard Huber] began collecting old rose varieties all over Europe. Among other things, he visited the Europa Rosarium in Sangerhausen, in the former GDR. There is a collection there of roses that were bred before 1900. He was also allowed to propagate them further and thus made a good name for himself in Germany, France and Austria. At that time we exported the majority of our production to Germany....Our first attempts [at breeding] with the Duftwolke variety as a mother plant were unsuccessful. During a presentation of new rose varieties at an international competition, we learned that the rose was sterile. This means you can't breed with it.
