[From An Abundance of Flowers, by Judith Taylor, 2018, p. 154:] Alfred Carré (1841-1912) ...lived and worked in St. Julien-les-Troyes....The town stationer employed him as a gardener, and in 1887 he won a silver medal at one of the Société d'Horticulture de l'Aube's Shows for his work on roses and carnations. Twelve Clematis cultivars are attributed to him....
