Mr. C. W. Heyde was President of the National Rose Society of N.S.W. from 1922-1923; 1926-1927; and 1935.
From the "Argus", Melbourne, January 9, 1945: "Mr. Frank W. Brown....has been appointed...to the Australian Tobacco Board....He replaces Mr. C.W. Heyde, who resigned on his retirement from the service of the British Australasian Tobacco Co."
From the Australian Rose Annual 1962, page 131 On the 11th January, 1961, Charles William Heyde died at his home, 190 Nicholson Parade, Cronulla, N.S.W., at the age of 81 years. Mr. Heyde was a former director of British Tobacco Company (Aust.) Ltd. He was a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and for many years was associated with Sydney Hospital, the N.S.W. branch of the Royal Life Saving Society, the Royal Horticultural Society of N.S.W., and was an Honorary Life Member of the National Rose Society of N.S.W., being the second president to be elected and served in that office for ten years. Our society is grateful for his distinguished service to the rose.
