František Chorvát (1938 - 2002) worked at the Botanic Garden of Comenius University in Bratislava, where he apprenticed to be a gardener. He was also active in the Rosa Klub, an interest organization in Bratislava operating nationwide, where in various positions he delivered his vast theoretical and practical experience in rose hybridization and cultivation to admirers and friends of roses.
