First issued in installments from July 1845 onwards as CENTURIE DES PLUS BELLES ROSES Choisies dans toutes les tribus du genre Rosier , peintes d'après nature et sur plantes vivantes empruntées aux plus riches collections. Published by Cousin, Paris. Planned were 50 deliveries of 2 plates each.
The first 8 plates were mentioned in 1846.
According to various contemporary advertisements there were on sale
11 deliveries (22 plates) in May 1850
19 deliveries (38 plates) in September 1852
22 deliveries (44 plates) in November 1853
29 deliveries (58 plates in October 1854
The complete work (60 plates) was issued in 1854 as Choix de Plus Belles Roses, published by Dusacq, Paris.
The plates 1-30 were signed by Annica Bricogne. Plates 31-60 only with N. Rémond, imp. Narcisse Rémond (1799-1863) was a gravure printer in Paris.
The texts of plates 1-22 were written by Victor Paquet (died June 8, 1850), plates 43-60 were signed by P.-C. Rouillard.
A previous publication Choix de Plus Belles Roses, ou Recueil de cent plus belles variétés, painted by Maubert and published by Audot, was announced in Revue Horticole (p. 296) to start in January 1845. It was supposed to 100 plates in 25 deliveries. Planned were: 1. Perpétuelle de la Rose, Princesse Adélaïde, Panachée double, Rose Souchet; 2. Adam, Camaieu, Madeline, Gloire de Paris. However, possibly only 5 plates were published (see under author Maubert).
[From Bulletin de Travaux de la Société d'Horticulture de la Seine, 1852, Exhibition catalogue, p. 43:] Centurie des plus belles Roses, choisies dans toutes les tribus du genre Rosier, peintes d'après nature et sur plantes vivantes empruntées aux plus riches collections , par Madame Anica Brigogne, gravées en tailledouce par Visto, imprimées en couleur et retouchées au pinceau par d'habiles artistes. Chaque livraison est composée de 2 planches supérieurement coloriées. L'ouvrage sera complet en 50 livraisons; 19 livraisons sont en vente.
