I was lookin for some ´Erinnerung an Brod´ imagine and found this nice one. We have this rose with a lighter bloom color. Do you have this rose : http://www.helpmefind.com/gardening/l.php?l=2.19630&tab=36 to compare with ´EanB´? Thanks! Vladimir

Hi Vladimír, Nice to hear from You again. I do not have Genie de Chateaubriand, but I'll upload some photo's of Erinnerung an Brod (taken today, but the first-one is of last year) to compare. In my modest opinion, they're not the same, for the foliage is very different: E. an B. has only(mostly) 5 leafleats on every leaf, whilst Genie has 7. (but not on the old plate uploaded by Jedmar... there it has also 5 leaflets) Maybe Jedmar and/or Guapuru might shine their light on this matter? The foliage of E. an B. is big/heavily built and matte, the other foliage looks more shiny and smaller. The petioles of E. an B. show a distinct red stripe. Maybe You can upload some photo's of the rose with the lighter bloomcolour. The colour of Erinnerung an Brod gets lighter when it ages and especially in rain as You can see on the photo. Good luck with Your quest!

Hi, and thanks for the quick reply! Foliage on your picture remind me Rosa setigera; I must compare it with my plant. But my rose is too pink and is lower!? I probably have to get some budwoods. It´s raining all night day here. Vladimir

You're welcome. What do You mean Vladimír? Do You want some budwood from mine? Or exchange? Or do You mean it is not Erinnerung an Brod, for it might have Setigera in its lineage? There seem to be two E. an B. in commerce: One very fragrant(mine)... and one without scent. (De Bierkreek has both) B.t.w. We had 30 mm of rain and hail yesterday in less then 20 minutes.

Yes, budwood will be good, to compare this plants. I uploaded one photo from June 2004; but there are only buds (was long winter and cold weather now), today. Foliage is similar with red petioles, but also fragrant flower seems not. R. rubifolia isn´t syn. for R. setigera? As Geschwind used hardy R. setigera in his breeding.

That would be nice to exchange budwood in June/July. I'll make some buddings of this rose too. Might Your rose be Asta von Parpart? It looks like a Setigera Hybrid... and Yes You're right: R. rubifolia is syn. for R. setigera. The exchange we can arrange by PM and/or e-mail contact.

Well, the flower is as ´Asta von Parpart´. So I need that budwood from ´E. an B´ if possible. I lost ´Theano´ some years ago, too. It´s better budding here in July-August, so please send me an e-mail which varieties and when it will be good for you.
