'The Sun' is growing in both Dunedin Botanic Garden and Henry Edginton Rose Garden, Queen's Park, Invercargill, labelled as 'Sunrose'. Georgina Campbell has confirmed that 'The Sun' and 'Sunrose' are the same cultivar and would have arrived in NZ when Samuel McGredy IV moved from Ireland to New Zealand. The rose would have been grown on and released commercially in NZ in 1974, hence the discrepancy between the dates of introduction.
