I have a question about the fragrance of "Just Joey". Is it strong or not? I've read in books that the fragrance of this rose is very good but other people tell me there is NO smell.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks!

Dirk, I grow Just Joey, and I find the fragrance strong. It is one of the few Hybrid Teas I grow.

If many people agree that the rose has no fragrance, then I wonder if the rose they are smelling is actually Just Joey. The odd nose here and there cannot smell certain scents very well.

Dear Cass,

Thanks for your quick answer! I have nothing but old roses (and Austin roses) in my garden. In fact i hate hybrid teas but Just Joey has a very beautiful flower so i wanna give it a try. My Just Joey is a standard rose and it will begin to flower within 2 weeks.

A good friend of mine also has a Just Joey standard rose and i was impressed by it last summer. The beatiful color, the shape of the flowers etc...

I can't wait for it to flower and i will post a comment about it's fragrance as soon as possible.

Dear Cass,

Wow! Joey has been flowering for 3 weeks now and it is STUNNING!!! I have never seen such a beautiful hybrid tea. With the first flowers i could only smell a slight fragrance but now....it has become overpowering! I think it's citrus blended with tea.
Then there is the shape and color...outstanding! And they are BIG!!!!
