Seed expert Claude Geffroy and her husband Pierre Andrieux (1713 - 1779)established a seed and plant shop in 1743. Their daughter Jeanne marie Adélaïde Andrieux (1756 - 1836) on July 15, 1773 became seed expert (maîtresse grainier) herself and married on July 14, 1774 Philippe-Victoire Levêque de Vilmorin (1746 - 1804) and the establishment was renamed Vilmorin-Andrieux (see) from 1775 onwards.
