An informal, Mediterranean garden of about 250 roses on a steep terraced slope among several kinds of lavender and sages, buddlea, ceanothus, asters, and other flowers, a few vines (jasmine, trumpet vine, etc.) and some bamboo. Most of the roses are old roses; most hybrid teas are early 20th century; three ramblers, several climbers, and five different species roses add variety and texture.
