Lots of Clematis on a small portion of a .7 acre country lot. About 1/3 of it contains an old double-wide trailer and attached shed, with about an equal amount of garden space on the East and North sides of the house. A sheer drop-off on South side about 3 feet from back of house precludes gardening, and this is the dog's run anyway.

East of the house/garden area is a slope going down to the field, which is about 2/3 of my land, edged with some sparse old woods. In the past, I attempted to make some small beds and a lawn of sorts in the field, but it is rather rocky and hard to dig, so I decided to concentrate my waning energy and time to the area close to the house. These beds are mostly for the daylilies that I once collected and other sun perennials.

There is a shade garden in the NE corner of the field, which had formerly been full of very scrubby thin trees before I talked one son into making me a garden space there. Many of the Hostas that I at one time was passionate about reside there, with little or no attention.

My other son helped me make a rock garden on the NE slope from the house area to the field, but that is also pretty much neglected also now. On the SE part of the slope I had planted some shrubs and perennials that got too big for the main gardens, but don't have time for that either. Perhaps when I can afford to retire I may have more time for reclaiming the lost gardens.

I have had a few rose bushes over my gardening career, but managed to kill most of them. But inspired by the combinations of roses & clems posted on my favorite clematis forums, I thought I would try again. Mostly interested in climbers, but have picked up a few shorter ones on sale too. Don't want to spend a lot of money on something that might not survive here.
