Roses are the backbone of my garden, but I also have many perennials among them. My garden sits on a gentle hill, with paths meandering on several levels. On one side I have a white picket fence built by my husband and son with climbers along it. On another side there is a tall forsythia hedge. There's a tall Leyland Cypress hedge on another side, so it is somewhat private and enclosed. There are several arbors with climbers on them, and climbers going up into trees. In spring it is a very floriferous place, a pleasure to my family and also to neighbors, birds, animals and bugs. It's hard to see the whole garden from any one place in it...it has to be walked through or seen from my kitchen window which looks out over all. I have a couple of small birdbaths which are really just bowls, but love to see the birds get in them or have a drink on a hot day. Like me, they find my garden a good place for refreshment.
