April 20, 2011, Claremont, CA. With some aphids in my non-spray garden. However, the ladybugs have started to arrive, and the aphids are doomed! I've been told Gallica's don't grow in my zone, but this one does, and blooms in great abundance in one great burst every year. The original plant came from Heirloom Old Garden Roses in Oregon in 1994. Last year it was razed to the ground in a gardening miscommunication--not to worry, it has suckered all over the place, I have many dozens of suckers coming up covered in buds.
