Origin:
Bred by James Mathews (or Matthews) (United States, circa 1849).
Class:
Noisette.  
Bloom:
Light yellow, darker center.  Mild to strong fragrance.  Medium, very double, in large clusters, globular bloom form.  Prolific, blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Glossy, dark green foliage.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Parentage:

Notes:
Very similar to 'Solfatare', of which it is probably a seedling. 'Augusta' is considered a synonym of 'Solfatare' by some, but Thomas Rivers thought they were at least somewhat different (see References).
