Origin:
Introduced by Unknown in circa 1576 as ' Rosa sine spinis'.
Bloom:
Deep pink and light pink. Moderate, sweet fragrance. Medium, double (17-25 petals) bloom form. Large buds.
Habit:
Few or no prickles/thorns. Glossy, dark green foliage.
Height: 7½' to 9' (230 to 275cm).

Notes:
"Ave, Rosa sine spinis" (Salute, Rose without prickles) was a popular liturgical choral from the early 16th century, on Archangel Gabriel greeting Maria. This could be the basis of the naming "Virgin Rose".
