Origin:
Bred by Charles-Denis Souchet (France, before 1842).
Introduced in France by Victor Verdier et fils in 1843 as 'Gloire de Paris'.
Class:
Bourbon.  
Bloom:
Dark red, crimson highlights, violet highlights.  Average diameter 2.75".  Large, full (26-40 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  Medium, long sepals buds.  
Habit:
Few or no prickles/thorns.  Large foliage.  5 leaflets.
